. Clothing for Mission Site Work: for painting, outside work, cleaning work etc.
· Tennis Shoes
· Shorts
· Long pants: if you get cold at night
· Flip flops
· Modest bathing suits
· Hat
· Sun glasses
· Sun screen
· Towels for the pool - bath towels are provided
· Personal hygiene and toiletry items
· T-shirts
· Socks
· Disposable camera
· Bathing suit
· Dependable outdoor footwear
· Any medications you might need during your stay, e.g. allergy pills, or prescription items.
· Pajamas
· Laundry bag
· Tennis racquets and balls
What should I leave behind?
· Expensive electronics
· Weapons of ANY kind including knives
. Any clothing that may have slogans or graphics that could be offensive to others at Lake Junaluska.
· Revealing or suggestive clothing
· Matches and fire starters
· Pets
. Alcohol and/or illegal drugs
Things to do before the trip - For Youth Workers*
· Gather medical forms. These do not need to be turned into us. They are for your benefit only.
· Get church involved in the process, specially by moral support.
· Gather youth and go over the schedule.
. When you receive your Mission Project, go over it with your group.
. Collect any supplies needed for the Mission Project or that your group can provide for Mission Project.
· Make sure youth has youth leader cell phone number.
· Pack in advance.
· Set the mood for a spiritual and fun retreat.
· Check for prescription medication and allergies.
· Let them know we’ll have offering and merchandise store.
· Also, please ask them to be careful with their wallets, purses, cell phones.
· Turn in rooming list.
· Make a list of all the participants and please include first and last name and also the school grade they are in.
· In case the numbers of participants from your church has changed, please call or email us and let us know.
· Please have at least one chaperone per 10 participants and at least one male and one female.
While at the Lake...
· Have group time with the youth at least once while you are here – many groups choose to do that after the walk to the cross.
· Engage on a mission project.
.Things to do when you go back
· Schedule a time no longer than a month after you came back from Junaluska to talk about their experiences and impressions of the events,
let it be a time for their own reflection and understanding of their Christian walk.
· If you don’t do this already, set up a monthly time just for the youth group to come together to
fellowship and talk about their faith.
· Give us feedback.
· Share with the church during worship what the youth did and learned during their time here in a month of returning home.
. Thank your church for any help with the fundraising.
· Engage in mission opportunities where you live.
